Job summary

Dale Community Primary School and Stonehill Nursery School are seeking a Headteacher to provide strategic and operational leadership for the federation. The role focuses on safeguarding, curriculum, and continuous improvement from Nursery to Year 6.

They will drive excellence, inclusion, and collaboration across both schools, working with governors, families and external partners to secure the best outcomes for every child and to strengthen the federation's position in the community.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership and Vision: Develop and sustain a vision for the future of the Federation; lead strategic direction for both schools; promote a culture of excellence and continuous improvement; ensure decisions are in the best interests of children; inspire staff, pupils, governors and families; drive school improvement via self-evaluation and planning; communicate the Federation's vision to stakeholders; translate priorities into measurable actions and outcomes; promote innovation with a focus on quality and inclusion.
• School Culture and Ethos: Lead with integrity and professionalism; create an inclusive culture where every child feels safe, valued and respected; set high expectations for behaviour, attendance and achievement; foster positive relationships across the school community; promote diversity and equity; champion children’s rights and wellbeing; ensure staff understand and contribute to the Federation’s ethos; encourage collaboration, trust and mutual respect.
• Teaching, Learning and Curriculum: Ensure high-quality teaching across the Federation; oversee education across all phases including Early Years; ensure a broad, ambitious and inclusive curriculum; promote excellence in early childhood education; manage curriculum progression from Nursery to Year 6; set high expectations for learning and achievement; ensure disadvantaged and SEND pupils achieve well; promote evidence-informed practice and monitor curriculum effectiveness; maintain focus on literacy, language development and mathematics; ensure effective assessment informs teaching.
• Early Years Leadership: Champion high-quality early education; ensure nursery provision meets top standards; support child-centred approaches to development; maintain links with families and health professionals; manage transitions between nursery and reception; develop shared understanding of child development; promote play-based learning and evidence-informed early years pedagogy.
• Inclusion, SEND and Vulnerable Pupils: Promote an inclusive culture; fulfil statutory SEND duties; champion equality of opportunity and remove barriers to achievement; ensure provision for pupils with additional needs; monitor outcomes for disadvantaged and vulnerable groups; develop partnerships with external agencies; promote ongoing inclusion across the Federation.
