IOP Publishing’s Physics World team seeks a Features Editor to join on a permanent basis in Bristol. You’ll develop must-read long-form content across physics, commissioning and editing articles from high-profile academics and freelance writers, guiding projects from concept to publication online and in print.

You’ll collaborate with another editor, contribute to podcasts and newsletters, and shape a dynamic publishing programme in a globally recognised physics platform.

Qualifications

• Degree in physics or related discipline, preferably to PhD level.
• Science communication experience.

Responsibilities

• Devise, commission and edit feature, careers and book-review articles.
• Manage the full process from idea to online and print publication.
• Contribute to podcast, social media and newsletter programmes.

We are looking for a Features Editor to join the Physics World journalism team on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity to advance your publishing career, using your enthusiasm, knowledge and experience to contribute to the success and growth of the world's leading physics magazine and website.

Role Summary

Working alongside our other Features Editor, you will be contribute to Physics World’s programme of must-read, long-form articles covering the whole breadth of physics. This will involve devising, commissioning and editing feature, careers and book-review articles written by high-profile academics, industry leaders and specialist freelance writers, managing the entire process from initial idea to final publication online and then in print. Opportunities to contribute to our podcast, social-media and newsletter programme exist too.
