Duties as a Further Education Teaching Assistant:

• Support students in their studies, helping them to access learning and achieve their goals
• Work one-to-one or with small groups, including learners with additional needs such as SEND, EAL, or those requiring extra academic support
• Assist lecturers in delivering engaging and differentiated sessions
• Provide constructive feedback to students and help monitor their progress
• Foster independent learning and encourage students to develop critical thinking skills
• Support the preparation and organisation of study materials and resources
• Assist with career development activities, such as employability skills and vocational learning
• Promote inclusion and encourage all learners to fully engage in their education
• Liaise with lecturers, student support teams, and families when necessary
• Uphold safeguarding procedures and attend relevant training

Ideal Further Education Teaching Assistant:

• Has experience working with post-16 students or within a college/sixth-form setting (desirable but not essential)
• Is caring, patient, and committed to supporting young adults
• Possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills as aFurther Education Teaching Assistant
• Can work well as part of a team and take initiative when needed
• Has good literacy and numeracy skills (Level 2 or equivalent)
• Is flexible, reliable, and eager to learn
• Understands safeguarding and student welfare responsibilities
