Job description

Post Title: Section Manager for Business – HE and AAT

Contract Schedule: Full-time - during term time

Contract type: Permanent

Start Date: TBC

Location: Uxbridge

We are working with an FE College with a successful Business School offering a range of programmes including vocational BTEC programmes in Business (Levels 1 – 3), and a portfolio of Finance, Commercial, and Professional Management qualifications.

As a Section Manager, you will report to the Head of School for Business, provide leadership for a team of Lecturers, manage study programmes, and develop provision across the Section, focusing on HE and AAT programmes.

You will teach across various programmes aligned with your expertise, including AAT and HE courses. Additionally, you will work to strengthen links with employers to facilitate student work placements and course enrichment.

Applicants should possess a relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification, a minimum Level 5 teaching qualification recognized by the FE sector (PGCE/DET or equivalent), and at least three years of successful teaching experience, preferably in Further Education, including leadership or supervision roles.

Experience in curriculum coordination, development, quality assurance, and improving teaching, learning, and assessment is essential.

To be shortlisted, candidates must have:

  1. Level 5 or above teaching qualification recognized by the FE sector (e.g., DET, PGCE, or equivalent)
  2. Assessor/verifier qualifications or willingness to obtain
  3. Desirable: Professional Qualifications such as AAT, CIPD, or ILM
  4. At least 3 years’ recent successful teaching experience in the subject area for learners aged 16+
  5. Industry experience or practitioner experience in Business/Finance/Accounting
  6. Understanding of quality assurance, curriculum, and funding issues
  7. Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with local employers
  8. Up-to-date knowledge of the relevant subject area
  9. Experience in leading/supervising a team
