We are looking for experienced and enthusiastic English lecturers to join our team and deliver high-quality, inclusive teaching across our English provision at Lincoln and Newark campuses. The majority of current opportunities are based at Lincoln campus, teaching GCSE English Language to full-time vocational learners and adults. There may also be some opportunities to deliver Functional Skills English, subject to programme need.

Our English model combines specialist English teaching with the wider vocational curriculum. Teaching is contextualised wherever appropriate so that learners can apply English confidently to their chosen sector, further study, employment and everyday life. The role requires a flexible, learner-centred approach, strong subject knowledge and the ability to work constructively with vocational and support colleagues.

Duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Deliver engaging learning, assessment and teaching primarily across GCSE English Language programmes, with limited opportunities to deliver Functional Skills English where required.
  • Teach full-time vocational learners and adult learners, adapting delivery to different starting points, aspirations and barriers to learning.
  • Provide ad hoc lesson cover and, where agreed, teach fixed hours across day and evening provision, subject to programme need and individual availability.
  • Use initial and ongoing assessment to plan appropriately challenging learning and provide timely feedback and feedforward that supports progress.
  • Contextualise English learning, where appropriate, to vocational areas, employment, progression and learners’ wider lives.
  • Promote positive attendance, participation and high expectations, helping learners understand the importance of English as a critical life and employability skill.
  • Work collaboratively with English, vocational, learning support and curriculum colleagues to provide a consistent and inclusive learner experience.
  • Complete and maintain accurate and timely assessment, progress and individual learning records where required.
  • Create a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment and safeguard and promote the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk, as applicable to the role.

The ideal candidate will have experience of delivering GCSE English Language, together with a relevant English qualification above Level 3 and an appropriate teaching qualification. Experience of Functional Skills English, adult provision, ESOL-informed practice or teaching English within vocational contexts would be advantageous. The ability to differentiate learning and support learners with SEND, high needs or other barriers to participation and achievement is also important.
