Job summary

Elevation Recruitment Group are working with a privately owned SME to appoint a Financial Controller with a clear pathway to Finance Director. Reporting to the CFO, you will lead the day-to-day finance function, own the management accounts, forecasting and budgeting, and business partner with operational managers across the business.

The commercial aspect carries real weight here, with involvement in cost analysis and investments.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with strong Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager background.
• Experience in manufacturing, distribution or product-based environments.
• Experience in owner-managed settings and building credibility.

Elevation Recruitment Group are proud to be working with a privately owned SME as they look to appoint a Financial Controller with a clear pathway to Finance Director.

This is a role for someone who wants more than just a job title. The business is growing through acquisitions, joint ventures and continued investment, and they are deliberately unbureaucratic. Decisions get made quickly, problems get solved face to face, and the expectation is that the people around the table actually contribute to that process rather than report on it after the fact.

Reporting directly to the CFO, you will lead the day to day finance function, own the management accounts, forecasting and budgeting, and business partner with operational managers across the business. The commercial side carries real weight here. You will be presenting at weekly and monthly leadership meetings, getting involved in cost analysis, customer profitability discussions and investment decisions, and supporting the CFO on acquisitions and strategic projects.

There is also a significant improvement agenda. The business wants better reporting, more automation, stronger controls and a finance function that is genuinely seen as a commercial partner rather than a back office service department. If you are someone who enjoys building things and making processes work better, there is plenty to get stuck into.

The progression is real and structured. The expectation is that within 18 to 24 months the right person is operating as the lead finance figure in the business, with the day to day freed up and the strategic work taking centre stage.

You will be a qualified accountant with a strong Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager background, ideally from manufacturing, distribution or a product based environment.

Comfortable in an owner managed setting, visible around the business, and the sort of person who builds credibility quickly without needing a corporate framework around them.
