Job summary

Anonymous is seeking an FCAW Welder for upcoming long-term engineering work in the South West. The role suits welders with marine, defence, dockyard, fabrication, shipbuilding or heavy engineering backgrounds. Strong focus on quality, safety and consistency in large-scale programmes.

Welders will work from drawings and weld maps, welding structural steel and fabricated components. A weld test may be required; travel and lodge allowances are included for the right candidate.

Qualifications

  • Strong FCAW / flux core welding experience.
  • Experience in marine, defence, dockyard, fabrication, shipbuilding or heavy engineering environments.
  • Ability to work from drawings and weld procedures.
  • Confident producing consistent, high quality welds.
  • Previous coded welding experience would be beneficial.
  • Ability to pass a weld test if required.

  • £24.88 per hour PAYE
  • £37.32 per hour overtime after 40 hours per week
  • £33.09 per hour nights
  • £400 weekly travel and lodge allowance
Estimated gross weekly earnings
  • 45 hours days: £1,581.80 per week
  • 67 hours days: £2,402.84 per week
  • 45 hours nights: £1,910.22 per week
  • 67 hours nights: £2,731.26 per week
Job description

We are looking to speak with experienced FCAW Welders for upcoming long term engineering work in the South West. This opportunity would suit welders with a background in marine, defence, dockyard, fabrication, shipbuilding, ship repair or heavy engineering environments. The South West has a strong long term marine and defence engineering labour market, including major dockyard and infrastructure activity around Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth. The work is expected to suit candidates who are comfortable working on large scale engineering programmes where quality, safety and consistency are important.
