Job description

Supporting the delivery of forensic drug analysis for police investigations across the East Midlands.

Join us as a FAS Drugs Laboratory Technician where you’ll be working as part of a five-force collaboration of Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire. You will support the FAS Drugs Laboratory in the delivery of drugs analysis into the Criminal Justice System supporting police investigations.

You’ll support the FAS Drugs Reporting Scientists Laboratory in the routine reporting of streamlined forensic reports and witness statements for the five forces. Undertaking routine technical tasks including setting up the laboratory for forensic activities, calibrating and maintaining the equipment & analytical instruments.

You will assist in delivering the preservation, identification, interpretation and reporting of analysis of illicit drug examinations to the East Midlands Region.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Examining and analysing a range of illicit drug samples using accredited techniques
  • Coordinating and managing equipment and instrument maintenance visits
  • Contributing to a safe and secure environment for drugs analysis

The must haves

  • Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 quality standards relating to forensic services.
  • Able to work under pressure, prioritising and planning workloads
  • Good problem-solving skills and commitment to continuous improvement
