Overview

JOB OVERVIEW Due to expansion, we have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Farm Worker / General Operative with good attention to detail and ability to work in a team. As the Farm Worker / General Operative you will be part of a dynamic team working across different phases of the growing cycle. During the harvesting season, you will focus on Cavolo Nero production, ensuring efficient performance to meet yield targets while maintaining quality standards. Outside of harvesting, your role will involve supporting planting operations, hand weeding, and assisting with protective measures for crops. The Farm Worker / General Operative role is very hands-on, requires teamwork, attention to detail, and adherence to health, safety, and hygiene procedures. Duties

In season

  • Work as part of the Cavolo Nero team, providing efficient and effective performance to achieve KPI’s such as Kg per person and yield targets
  • Harvesting crop (by hand) at the correct speed and quality
  • Pack stock correctly into trays and dolavs
  • Stack and move the pallets/dolavs around the rig and harvest trailer, ensuring they are labelled correctly
  • Work as a team to ensure the workplace, canteen and fields are cleaned to the correct standard
  • Follow all company procedures for Health & Safety, People, Quality and Hygiene

Out of season

  • Work on the planting team
  • Loading and unloading trays from ‘stills’ to the planter, placing plants at the correct speed into the planter or placing by hand, into the ground behind the planter
  • Hand weeding
  • Applying and removing fleece and sandbags
Candidate requirements
  • A self-motivated individual, who can work to a high standard on their own initiative
  • Ability to communicate in basic English and be numerate
  • Dexterous, able to work in poor weather conditions and able to manage the demands of physical work
  • Willing to undertake further training to fulfil the requirements of the role
  • Willing to work additional/alternative shift patterns to meet the demands of the role
  • Prepared to travel regularly to fields locally, and other locations locally on an adhoc basis
