Farm Veterinary Surgeon - Bromsgrove
Farm Vet Wanted – Independent Practice, Four-Day Week, Outstanding Standards
Are you an experienced farm vet looking to work somewhere that genuinely values your time, your expertise, and your well-being? This independent, farm-only practice near Bromsgrove in Worcestershire may be exactly what you’re after.
This is not your average job. The team here focuses exclusively on farm animals – a solid mix of beef and sheep work, with some dairy clients, gamebirds, and a few smallholders. No equine, no camelids, and very little TB testing, thanks to in-house ATT testers and well-organised systems. You’ll be joining a practice that believes in quality over quantity, giving you the time during your working day to follow up labs, take proper breaks (including actual hot drinks), and deliver the kind of care that makes you proud to be a vet.
You’ll work a four-day week, with a fixed weekday off every week. When it’s your weekend off, your Friday finishes at 5pm and your weekend is truly your own. The on-call rota is a sensible 1-in-4, with one fixed night each week. Hours are 8am to 5pm, with no Saturday morning surgeries, and the practice is more than open to discussions around part-time or flexible working if that suits you better.
This is a genuinely independent practice, proudly RCVS accredited, with three Practice Standards Awards at Outstanding – the only practice in the country to achieve this. The team works from fully kitted-out vans and has all the kit you’d expect (and some you might not), including bull and ram fertility testing equipment, handling systems, foot-trimming crushes, and fetotomes. There’s a hoof trimmer in-house and an excellent crush setup for safely lifting all four feet.
Located just outside Bromsgrove, the practice offers a blend of rural charm with good access to local amenities and transport links. It’s a lovely part of the country to call home.
To thrive in this role, you’ll need at least 2–3 years’ experience in UK farm practice and be confident working independently. Sole charge won’t faze you, and ideally, you’ll bring the kind of practical wisdom that comes from a good few years out on the road. If you’re an OV or inspector, the client is only keen to hear from you if you’ve since spent time in proper farm practice.
This is a rare opportunity to join a respected, forward-thinking, and supportive team doing outstanding farm vet work, without the corporate noise.
