Job description
Overview

Are you an experienced farm vet looking to take the next step in your career? My client has a dedicated and friendly team in Somerset where they combine traditional service values with a modern, progressive approach to farm veterinary care. Located in the dairy-rich region of Somerset and East Devon, the practice works closely with forward-thinking dairy farmers in an area renowned for its vibrant farming community. With over 30 dairy herds under routine care, plus a wide variety of beef, sheep, and youngstock work, they can offer you a genuinely diverse caseload.

They believe in giving vets the autonomy to shape clinical standards and take the lead in developing services. You’ll have the opportunity to pursue your interests, whether through post-graduate qualifications or focused CPD. Vet techs and ATT staff are on hand to support your clinical work, ensuring you can focus on the aspects of the job that matter most. If you enjoy farmer engagement, there’s scope to get involved in discussion groups and training sessions too.

This is a farm-only practice with a strong reputation and an experienced team. If you’re ready to take on routine fertility work and play a key role in shaping clinical direction, they’d love to hear from you. Out-of-hours commitments are light, shared on a 1-in-6 rota.

The vets describe the team as highly supportive and knowledgeable, with a culture that encourages growth and development. They even earned a 3-star rating on the B-heard employee survey, highlighting the positive working environment that’s been built.

In return, they offer a generous salary that reflects your experience and leadership, flexible working options, and a genuine commitment to supporting further education. You’ll also have access to extensive CPD, training, and a network of leading farm vets across the UK. Based around Taunton in Somerset, nestled between the Quantock and Blackdown Hills and within easy reach of the stunning Jurassic Coast.
