Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Farm Trader to join our successful team at Sparkford, Somerset, and to help lead our Westerly based trading team.

At Bartholomews, we offer our customers a complete service, including:

• Supply of agricultural combinable crop seeds, game-cover, and environmental mixes
• Fertilizers, feeds, and other farm inputs for arable farmers across the southern counties
• Management of grain purchases
• Information on our farm services including grain storage at Shoreham Port, grain marketing, agronomy packages, and haulage services through Churchill Freight Services

You will need to be knowledgeable, keeping up to date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and all our products and services to advise our customers effectively.

We are seeking experienced Farm Traders with a sound understanding of on-farm sales, arable farming, and grain buying. Ideally, you will have gained experience in a similar role and be capable of developing a customer portfolio within your trading area.

About You:

This role is ideal for individuals with experience in farm sales and grain purchasing, whether through hands-on farm management or roles in similar businesses. Success in growing a customer base is desirable.

You should be personable and skilled at forming long-lasting relationships with farmers and suppliers. Knowledge of fertilizers and crop nutrition is advantageous, along with experience in the agricultural industry.

Opportunities for FACTS and BASIS qualifications are available if desired.

A degree or diploma in agricultural studies or a related field would be beneficial but is not essential.

You must hold and maintain a UK Driving License to conduct on-farm visits and other trips.
