About Lightsource bp O&M:

Join Europe’s largest Operations & Maintenance (O&M) fleet and contribute to maintaining our solar plants in optimal operating condition. At Lightsource BP, we're committed to renewable energy and sustainability, and we’re looking for a passionate Ground Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic team.

The purpose of the role is to carry out effective ground works on the Lightsource bp ground mounted sites, to help maintain production levels and adhere to planning regulations.

Location :Ideal candidates will be located in or around Exeter

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the ground maintenance works of solar farms including grass cutting, hedge cutting, spraying, strimming, civils & vegetation removal.
• To undertake Solar panel cleaning, using a specifically designed tractor mounted rotating brush and pressurized water system.
• Undertake emergency or planned trenching, digging, fence repairs and other manual tasks to assist the Field Service Engineers with repairs and alterations to sites.
• To produce digital photographic reports confirming work has been completed and addressing any issues.
• Manage priorities based on local ground and weather conditions and in line with good practice.
• To liaise with various individuals including the Planning Team, the Regional Manager, Landlords and other Third Parties, ensuring that work is completed in a timely and efficient manner.
• Work within all health and safety guidelines.
• Basic upkeep of ground maintenance equipment.
• Make recommendations as to the tasks required to best manage the solar sites.
• Being able to stay away overnight when requested. *Accommodation and expenses will be paid for.

Knowledge :

• Previous experience of working in Ground Maintenance, land management or agricultural is essential.

Work Skills:

• Full UK driving license.
• PA1, PA6, PA2.
• Strimmer and brush cutter experience/certificate.
• Good IT skills and confidence in Microsoft Office and use of a tablet computer.
• Experience using heavy duty flails.
• Chainsaw License.

General Skills/Attributes:

• Good, professional communicator on telephone and via email.
• Happy working as part of a team as well as being confident working solo.*Majority of time will be spent working unaccompanied, self-motivation & communication with work colleagues is key.
• Use of Initiative & organized when forward planning workload.
• Good time management.
• Proficient in the use of smart phone apps, emails and able to pick up computer systems quickly.
• Being able & willing to stay away over multiple nights when needed.

Education and Qualifications:

• Minimum GSCE’s or similar experience in previous role.
