Job description

We are recruiting for a Farm Advisor.

This role involves encouraging farmers to adopt regenerative agriculture and wildlife-friendly practices through advice, skills sharing, and supporting access to Stewardship, ELMs, and green finance.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Organising and promoting events to engage farmers with wildlife-friendly farming practices.
  2. Providing one-to-one advice to farmers and landowners on natural capital, ecosystem services, and agri-environment schemes like ELMS and SFI.
  3. Liaising with farmers, stakeholders, and NGOs to maintain good relations.
  4. Producing farm maps using GIS, updating landowner/farmer databases, and supporting funded projects.
  5. Updating the GWT website and collaborating with the Communications Team on case studies and media.
  6. Supporting wildlife-friendly farming projects, including funding bids and coordinating habitat enhancement volunteer work.
  7. Producing land and farm management plans and staying informed on financial support mechanisms like ELM and Biodiversity Net Gain.
  8. Conducting farm surveys using UK habitats system and BNG assessments.
  9. Collaborating with other teams within GWT to achieve job outcomes.
