Portfolio Procurement has been engaged by our Oxfordshire based client to recruit for a Far East Category Buyer. The role focuses on sourcing, negotiating and developing products across global supplier networks with a strong emphasis on the Far East.

The buyer will manage development cycles, collaborate with design teams and ensure cost-effective, high-quality product ranges while spotting market opportunities and trends.

Qualifications

• Experience in product buying from concept through to production.
• Experience managing products across full development cycle.
• Strong planning and organisational skills.
• Excellent negotiation and communication abilities.
• Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
• Attention to detail in product specs and costs.
• Proficient with Excel and data analysis.
• Experience with Far East sourcing.
• CIPS qualification pursued beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Manage products through complete buying and development cycle.
• Develop new product ideas with design and suppliers.
• Source products and suppliers globally, including Far East sourcing.
• Negotiate cost prices, terms, and supplier agreements.
• Manage supplier relationships and development.
• Plan and manage product ranges within categories.
• Identify market opportunities and consumer trends.
• Improve products via quality, specs, packaging or cost reduction.
• Coordinate packaging and presentation with graphics team.
