Job summary

Milton Keynes City Council is recruiting a Family Time Worker to join our Children’s Social Care service. You’ll help children and young people spend safe, supported and meaningful time with their parents or carers, remaining with an assigned family and observing their interactions.

You’ll provide clear, factual records, offer advice when needed and take appropriate action if safeguarding concerns arise. This frontline role requires experience in family support work and understanding of the

Qualifications

• Direct family support work experience, typically 1–2 years.
• Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Calm and supportive communication; clear written records.
• Collaborative approach and safeguarding responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Remain with the assigned family during each Family Time session and support children, young people, parents and carers.
• Observe interactions and produce accurate, factual records of each session.
• Respond promptly to safeguarding concerns and report to a senior colleague.
• Work with senior colleagues and other professionals to inform safety decisions.
• Offer parents and carers advice to support positive interactions.
• Review information before sessions and contribute to service development.
