Family Support Worker / Teaching Assistant

Position: Family Support Worker / Teaching Assistant
Contract Type: Part-time (Thursday and Friday)

About Us:
We are a supportive and inclusive school in Birmingham, dedicated to helping students thrive academically and emotionally. We are seeking a compassionate Family Support Worker / Teaching Assistant to join our team on a part-time basis (Thursdays and Fridays).

Role Overview:
As a Family Support Worker / Teaching Assistant, you’ll support students in the classroom, provide emotional and pastoral care, and help families access necessary resources and services. You’ll work closely with staff to ensure every student receives the support they need.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-class support to students, including those with SEN and behavioral needs.
  • Assist teachers with lesson delivery and classroom activities.
  • Offer one-to-one and small group support for academic and emotional development.
  • Work with families to provide support and connect them to relevant services.
  • Ensure the welfare and safety of students following safeguarding procedures.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with children (ideally in a teaching assistant or support role).
  • Strong communication skills and a caring, empathetic approach.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practices and child welfare.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 3 Teaching Assistant) desirable.
