Family Service Worker – additional roles/responsibilities

Provide high-quality, child-led contact to looked-after children and young people with their families taking place within a contact centre or the wider community. Observe, offer relevant support and guidance during contact to ensure that the immediate safety and needs of the child are met. Promote quality and stimulating contact and provide accurate and relevant written and verbal information to contribute to the ongoing care plan for looked-after children and young people.

Provide an efficient and needs-led supervised contact service to children, young people and their families both within a contact centre and when accessing community resources as directed by the Family Time Manager.

Effectively communicate with children, young people and their families to enable them to have quality, child-led contact.

Record all observations in line with current recording policy. This includes maintaining accurate, good-quality records that evidence the observations made within the child’s contact.

Establish and sustain effective professional relationships with children, their families and other professionals, ensuring that a high standard of service is provided to looked-after children, young people and their families. Attend planning meetings with social workers to provide feedback supporting the planning and reviewing process for looked-after children and young people.

Work flexible hours, including early morning, evening and weekend work as required according to service needs.
