Job description

Job title: Family Support Worker

Hours: 10 hours per week, Tuesday, Friday, and 1 in 3 Saturdays during term time. Additional hours during school holidays.

Location: Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne

Rates of pay: £15.00 per hour

Purpose of Job: To work alongside the family in caring for and supporting their eldest son with autism outside of the home, and to supervise and support the younger son as needed.

Children's details: Two children aged 11 and 14; eldest has autistic spectrum disorder, struggles with social norms and has a stammer.

Term time activities (subject to change):

• Tuesday 17:30-22:00: Gaming social and support at home
• Friday 16:00-23:00: 2.5 hours, activity depending on interests
• Saturday 13:00-16:30 (or occasional mornings): Art garden or visit to a National Trust property

Additional hours:

• Tuesday 09:00-14:00
• Thursday 09:00-14:00
• Friday 09:00-14:00
• Saturday 09:00-14:00 (1 out of 3 Saturdays)

Flexibility is required for start and end times. A driver is required due to dislike of public transport and busy areas; the employer can add the candidate to their insurance if they do not own a vehicle.
