Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is recruiting a 0 to 5 Family Support Worker to work across Blaby, Oadby & Wigston for 12 months. You will deliver Bumps Babies & Beyond and Best Start Play & Learn, plus home-based support. An enhanced DBS with barred list is required.

Strong safeguarding and multi-agency collaboration are essential. You will engage families, support early years development, and contribute to inclusive services for all residents.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject (social care/health/childcare) or substantial direct family support experience.
  • Experience in working with families facing parenting difficulties and safeguarding.
  • Experience in multi-agency settings and collaborating across services.
  • Experience identifying and delivering evidence-based interventions and groups.
  • Knowledge of issues affecting families (domestic abuse, mental health, substance misuse, poverty, housing).
  • Knowledge of child development and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
  • Ability to engage children, parents and wider family networks.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver our Bumps Babies & Beyond groups and Best Start Play & Learn sessions across Blaby, Oadby & Wigston.
  • Carry out support work within the home as required by families.

Job description

We are currently recruiting for a 0 to 5 Family Support Worker to join our team working across Blaby, Oadby & Wigston, for the next 12 months. You will have a passion for supporting early years children and their families. You will deliver our Bumps Babies & Beyond groups, along with our Best Start Play & Learn sessions and carry out support work within the home.   • Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject, e.g. social care, health or childcare, OR substantial experience in providing direct support to families that clearly demonstrates the experience, skills, competencies, and knowledge outlined below and Role specific - Children's Play-worker (5- 11s) - Level 1 or Level 2 Theraplay training, or willingness to undertake such training.
  • Experience of working with families experiencing difficulties in parenting or behaviour management and the ability to recognise Child Protection issues and Safeguarding practice
  • Experience of working in a multi-agency environment
  • Experience of identifying and delivering appropriate evidence-based interventions & groups
  • Knowledge and awareness of issues which may have an impact on the lives of families such as domestic abuse, mental health difficulties, substance misuse, poverty, housing
  • Knowledge of child development and Early Years Foundation Stage
  • Ability to engage children, parents and wider family and support networks
