Family Support Worker

As a Family Support Worker, you will be delivering family support assessments and interventions for children and young people with disabilities.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Work sensitively with children with moderate to severe learning disabilities and complex health needs to develop their social and communication skills, and promote friendships, independence, and self-esteem.
2. Conduct assessments and support the planning of appropriate interventions and outcomes.
3. Consult meaningfully with children, young people, and their parents/carers to ensure services are appropriate, tailored to individual needs, reliable, and sensitive.
4. Ensure that the needs of children and young people are met through the delivery of planned interventions.
5. Access, where possible, the full range of mainstream community resources and facilities to promote social inclusion and provide activities that enable children to enjoy and achieve.

Requirements:

1. Level 3 childcare qualification or equivalent.
2. Experience in delivering and evaluating leisure opportunities for disabled children and young people.
3. Experience working with parents and carers of disabled children and young people.
4. Experience of multi-agency working with statutory or voluntary agencies to provide diverse leisure opportunities.
5. An understanding of the vulnerabilities of disabled children, ensuring their safety and promoting their independence responsibly.
6. Knowledge of child safeguarding policies and procedures, especially concerning vulnerable groups.
7. Commitment to improving the quality of life for disabled children, young people, and their families.
