Overview

Job Title: Senior Family Support Worker / Family Support Worker

Location: Yorkshire area

Contract: 3 months (with potential for extension or permanent placement)

Rate: £180 - £400 per day (Inside IR35, dependent on experience and qualifications)

About the Role

We are seeking dedicated Family Support Workers (FSWs) and Senior Family Support Workers to join our client's team on an interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity for qualified or non-qualified social workers with a strong background in early intervention and prevention work to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children, young people, and families.

The role involves regular visits to family homes, providing both practical and emotional support to children in need and their families, with the aim of strengthening resilience, promoting well being, and preventing escalation into statutory services.

This contract offers 3 months initially, with the possibility of extension or a move into a permanent position for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Early Help & Prevention: Engage families at the earliest stage to address difficulties before they escalate.
  • Direct Family Work: Conduct home visits, assess needs, and provide tailored support packages.
  • Practical Support: Assist families with routines, budgeting, parenting strategies, housing, school attendance, and access to benefits.
  • Emotional Support: Offer guidance, encouragement, and advocacy to reduce stress, isolation, and family breakdown.
  • Safeguarding: Identify and escalate safeguarding concerns in line with local authority thresholds and statutory guidance.
  • Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work alongside schools, health services, social care, and voluntary agencies to deliver coordinated plans.
  • Parenting & Relationship Support: Deliver parenting programmes, facilitate mediation, and strengthen family dynamics.
  • Goal Setting & Review: Empower families to identify strengths, set realistic goals, and achieve sustainable outcomes.
Essential Experience
  • Background in family support, early intervention, or children\'s services.
  • Experience of conducting home visits and working directly with families.
  • Strong understanding of child development and safeguarding frameworks.
Desirable
  • Qualified/ Non Qualified Social Worker (DipSW, CQSW, or Degree in Social Work).
  • Experience in multi-agency working and delivering parenting programmes.
Skills & Qualities
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Empathetic, approachable, and non-judgemental.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Confidence in problem-solving and delivering practical advice.
