Job description

We're Hiring: Family Support Worker

Location: County Durham
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Contract: Initial 3-month contract (potential for extension)
Salary: Grade 6 – Competitive (based on experience)

About the Role: We are seeking adedicated Family Support Workerto support our social work teams in delivering high-quality, child-centred interventions. You'll work directly with families, providing hands-on support, supervising family time, and empowering parents to make positive changes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support parents through tailored interventions and practical help
  • Supervise and record family time sessions
  • Contribute to assessments and care planning alongside social workers
  • Facilitate parenting programmes and model positive behaviours
  • Maintain accurate records and write supervision reports
  • Advocate for families and help them access local services
  • Work collaboratively within multi-agency teams
Requirements:
  • Own a car with business insurance
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and written skills
  • Experience working with children and families in a community or home setting
  • Ability to manage conflict and build professional relationships
  • A child-centred approach and strong emotional resilience
  • Relevant Level 3 qualification or significant experience (Level 4+ desirable)
  • Enhanced DBS clearance required
