Family Support Teams are composed of ASYE, Social Workers, and Senior Practitioners, led by a Deputy Team Manager and a Team Manager.
We handle cases related to Child in Need, Child Protection, and Looked After Children/Court proceedings.
Caseloads typically involve 10 families, approximately 22 children, with a mix of CIN and CP cases. More experienced staff manage court cases but handle no more than 3 families at a time, which may include private proceedings with Section 7 or 37 reports. Supervision occurs every 4 weeks and includes personal and case supervision.
Due to COVID-19, all children and families are seen for home visits within statutory timescales. When not visiting, staff work from home, with meetings such as core groups, family support, and strategy meetings conducted via Microsoft Teams.
Staff have access to smartphones and Surface Pro tablets, and are expected to be in the office only when on duty, backup duty (about 3 times a month), or scheduled to work onsite.
In Family Support, we have access to FAST and SAIT for direct work, interventions, and assessments, including parenting skills, boundary setting, managing behavior, and specialized assessments like PAMS, Adult Attachment Interview, and Story Stems.
