Family Support Teams are composed of ASYE, Social Workers, and Senior Practitioners, led by a Deputy Team Manager and a Team Manager.
We handle cases related to Child in Need, Child Protection, and Looked After Children, from initial contact through to the conclusion of proceedings.
Caseloads typically involve 10 families, averaging about 22 children. Staff manage a mix of CIN and CP cases. More experienced staff may handle court cases but usually no more than 3 families at a time, including private proceedings such as Section 7 or 37 reports. Supervision occurs every 4 weeks, focusing on personal and case reviews.
Due to COVID-19, all children and families are seen for home visits within statutory timescales. When not visiting, staff work from home, conducting meetings like core groups, family support, and strategy sessions via Microsoft Teams.
Staff have access to smartphones and Surface Pro tablets, with office presence required only during duty or planned visits, averaging 3 times a month, or for specific work tasks.
We have access to FAST and SAIT services for direct work, interventions, and assessments, including parenting support, boundary setting, behavior management, and specialized assessments such as PAMS, Adult Attachment Interview, and Story Stems.
