Vulnerable children in the UK need your help
Wherever you work in the Action for Children family, you'll be helping to change the lives of the most vulnerable children in the UK.
Last year, we helped more than 687,000 children and families across the UK. From direct work in communities to national campaigning, we are focused on making sure every child has a safe and happy childhood, and the foundations they need to thrive.
Why Action for Children?
Working here is more than a job. Everyone in the Action for Children family is passionate about protecting and supporting children. It's the sense of purpose that drives us every single day. Because we know that, when we work together, we can make a huge difference to bring lasting improvements to vulnerable children's lives.
A bit about the role
Join us at Action for Children in an exciting partnership between Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, through the 0 to 19 Torbay initiative. We are working together to promote the health, development, and well-being of children, young people, and families in the Torbay area.
This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who enjoys a new challenge, has a sense of humour, and thrives in a role that is consistently developing, with the potential to make a real difference in the lives of children and their families.
This role is crucial for providing support to families, helping them overcome challenges and improving their quality of life. You will collaborate with families to assess their needs and create personalised support plans. Offering practical and emotional assistance to empower families is key, along with working closely with other professionals and organisations to ensure comprehensive support.
Experience in family support or a related field is desirable, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential, as is a strong commitment to supporting families in need. You will be helping with one-to-one parenting, domestic abuse support, drug-related challenges, and general family support. Since you will be travelling across the Torbay, Torquay, and Brixham areas, it is important to have the ability to work freely across these locations; a driving licence will be beneficial. Familiarity with catchment theory and a good knowledge of safeguarding, including identifying safeguarding situations, would be advantageous.
Please note that this role does involve working occasionally on Saturdays.
About the service
