Family Support Practitioner (SHS School-based Practitioner)

Location: The Valley Leadership Academy, Bacup OL13 0TG

Hours: 5 days per week, Term Time Only + inset days

Salary: £22,274 - £24,796

Closing date: 07/07/2025

Interview dates: 10/07/2025 (online)

2nd Stage interviews: TBC W/C 14/07/2025 (at the school)

Proposed start date: 1st September 2025

We are looking for a Family Support Practitioner to join our team and make a difference in children’s lives every day. As the Family Support Practitioner, you will work closely with school staff to deliver casework aimed at promoting and improving educational outcomes for the children and families we support. Your support will also focus on improving attendance, punctuality, and engagement in learning.

You will need excellent relationship-building and communication skills, with a proven ability to engage with a wide range of people.

Previous experience in the following areas is essential:

  • Working and engaging with parents, carers, guardians, children, or individuals through individual and/or group-based support
  • Providing expert pastoral support
  • Working in an educational or outreach environment
  • Addressing social and emotional factors affecting a child’s capacity to learn
  • Working with families from diverse communities
