Location: Taunton or Minehead, Somerset

We are delighted to be supporting a respected regional law firm in Somerset with the recruitment of a Family Solicitor to join their established family department. This role can be based in either the Taunton or Minehead office, offering flexibility to suit the successful candidate.

The Role

You will handle a caseload of public law family matters, working closely with colleagues and external professionals to protect the welfare of children and vulnerable individuals. Key Responsibilities

• Managing a caseload of public law family matters, including care proceedings, child protection, and representing parents, guardians, and children.
• Attending court hearings, conducting advocacy where appropriate, and instructing counsel when required.
• Liaising with local authorities, social services, guardians, and other professionals.
• Preparing legal documents, statements, and bundles to a high standard.
• Advising clients with empathy and professionalism, ensuring they fully understand their rights and options.
• Handling Legal Aid funded matters, ensuring compliance with all relevant requirements.
• Working as part of a collaborative family team to deliver outstanding client care and support.

About You

• A qualified solicitor with experience in family law, ideally with a focus on public law.
• Knowledge of Legal Aid processes and experience managing a publicly funded caseload is desirable.
• Strong advocacy, drafting, and client care skills.
• Highly organised, able to manage a busy caseload while maintaining attention to detail.
• A team player who is committed to delivering excellent service to clients and supporting colleagues.
