Overview

Family Law Solicitor – Location: Birmingham. Certain Advantage are seeking a Family Solicitor with experience in privately funded and legal aid matters to join a dynamic and client-focused Family Law team in Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity to manage a diverse caseload involving divorce, finances, Children Act matters, and advocacy, while contributing to the firm's ongoing growth and client service excellence.

Responsibilities

• Handle a mixed caseload including privately funded family law matters: divorce, financial remedy, and Children Act proceedings
• Legal Aid family work where applicable
• Advocacy in family courts as required
• Manage and develop a caseload of corporate and private clients
• Maintain strong day-to-day client relationships, ensuring excellent communication and service
• Keep up to date with relevant family law legislation and practice
• Liaise effectively with other team members and departments
• Complete legal documents, forms, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner
• Actively participate in business development including seminars, workshops, and pitches
• Meet agreed targets and service level agreements (SLAs)
• Deliver a service that is efficient, responsive, and client-focused

Salary: £36,000 – £47,000 DOE

The individual

We are looking for someone who is:

• A Qualified Solicitor (ideally 3+ years PQE) with strong family law experience
• Comfortable managing high and varied caseloads independently
• Familiar with both private and publicly funded family law matters
• Confident in advocacy and attending court hearings
• Proactive, organised, and self-motivated with the ability to use initiative
• Skilled in client care, with a professional and empathetic approach
• Commercially aware and keen to contribute to firm growth and marketing
• A strong communicator and effective team player
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
