Job summary

Lift Clacton is seeking a compassionate Family Liaison Officer to bridge school and families, support attendance, and provide practical parenting guidance. You will work with parents, carers, students and external agencies to ensure children engage well with school and learning.

You will identify families needing extra support, develop practical action plans, and help them access local services. Strong safeguarding coordination and data-informed decisions are essential.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4 or equivalent.
• Experience of motivating students and promoting high expectations.
• Experience of using data to analyse performance, track progress and inform decision making.
• Experience of engaging hard to reach families, including through home to community visits.
• Knowledge of the education sector, safeguarding/child protection.

Responsibilities

• Build strong, trusting relationships with parents, carers and students, including hard to reach families.
• Support improved attendance by identifying causes of absence and developing practical plans with families and school staff.
• Provide practical guidance around parenting, behaviour management, play and access to local services.
• Support children and families through transitions to maintain positive engagement with school.
• Coordinate wellbeing and nurture interventions to improve emotional resilience and reduce barriers to learning.
• Use attendance information and data to identify trends, inform interventions and evaluate impact.
• Work with external agencies and stay updated on local statutory and voluntary services.
• Support safeguarding by preparing reports and drafting referrals for meetings.
• Represent the school at safeguarding and multi-agency meetings with clear updates.
