Support families through healing and growth, helping the community of North Kensington move forward.

As the Family Practitioner within the Grenfell Education Hub, you'll work with children and parents navigating their own individual circumstances, the institutions and systems relevant for their children's education, and the impacts of the Grenfell Tower tragedy. Your work will focus on building trust, restoring connection, and making space for ambition - for children to thrive, for parents to feel supported, and for families to imagine futures that feel possible.

Working Style:

You'll be based in the Borough for five days a week, playing a key role in serving the local community. You'll be part of a dedicated team making a real difference to residents' lives.

What you'll be doing:

You'll work directly with families - many of whom have experienced trauma - to strengthen school engagement, improve access to support, and foster resilience in everyday life. Whether you're helping a young person reintegrate into school, supporting a parent through one-to-one sessions, or leading a family wellbeing workshop, your role will be about offering care in ways that are practical, personal and grounded in trust.

You'll act as the key link between the Grenfell Education Hub, local schools and families - identifying what's standing in the way of progress and co-creating solutions that reflect each family's values, culture and needs. You'll coordinate mentoring programmes, support transitions, help plan school holiday activities and remove practical barriers to engagement - always with the belief that every child deserves to feel safe, capable, and encouraged to aim high.

You'll work closely with a wide network of professionals, including social care, health visitors and CAMHS, ensuring each family receives holistic and joined-up support. You'll also deliver safeguarding training for mentors, manage referrals and maintain clear, respectful records that contribute to consistent, high-quality care.

This is emotionally rich, human-centred work. Every day will offer the chance to help families find their footing, enhance their confidence and build on their capacity for what's next.

What You'll Bring

You'll have a recognised qualification in a relevant field - whether family support, youth work, early years, social care or a similar area. But just as importantly, you'll bring the presence, patience and emotional intelligence needed to build relationships that last.

You'll have experience working with families affected by trauma, using restorative, relational and trauma-informed approaches. You'll understand the importance of cultural competence, and you'll adapt your approach with care and respect for each family's lived experience - especially in a context shaped by loss and systemic inequality.

You'll be confident leading both one-to-one and group-based work, and skilled in navigating emotional complexity while holding clear professional boundaries. Strong communication, safeguarding knowledge and organisational skills are essential - as is the ability to work independently and with compassion, managing a varied caseload without losing sight of the human story behind each case.

Above all, you'll believe in the right of every family to feel seen, supported and hopeful about their future - and you'll work to protect that right, day by day.

Why join us

At RBKC, we're all in - investing in our people, our communities and our future.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of the Grenfell Education Hub - a long-term, community-rooted response to one of the UK's most profound tragedies. You'll be part of a team that's committed not just to helping families recover, but to supporting them in rebuilding lives filled with meaning, connection and hope.

You'll work in a team where care is central, where your voice matters, and where your work is part of a wider effort to ensure that those affected by Grenfell are never forgotten - but also never defined by what they've endured. If your values align with ours and you're committed to person-centred, relational practice, we'd be proud to receive your application - even if you don't meet every listed requirement.

And your presence will help ensure that children and families affected by Grenfell are not left behind - but supported to move forward with strength, hope and ambition.
