Role Description

As a Full-time Family Paralegal, you will play a crucial role in supporting our solicitors and clients throughout various family law proceedings. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks, from case preparation and document management to client communication and courtroom assistance. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong multitasking abilities and a passion for family law.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist solicitors in all aspects of family law cases, including divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support, and property division
  • Conduct initial client interviews and gather relevant information for case assessment
  • Prepare and file legal documents, including petitions, motions, and responses
  • Manage case files and ensure all documentation is organised and up-to-date
  • Draft correspondence to clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel
  • Conduct legal research and analyse case law relevant to ongoing matters
  • Assist in the preparation of financial disclosures and asset division proposals
  • Coordinate with experts, such as child custody evaluators and forensic accountants
  • Schedule and attend client meetings, depositions, and court hearings
  • Maintain and update case calendars and deadlines
  • Prepare exhibits and trial binders for court appearances
  • Assist attorneys during mediation sessions and settlement negotiations
  • Communicate with clients regularly to provide updates and gather information
  • Perform conflict checks and maintain client confidentiality
  • Collaborate with other paralegals and support staff to ensure efficient case management

Required Qualifications

  • 1-5 years of experience as a paralegal in family law
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies or related field
