Overview

Responsible to assist the Program Director in the planning, implementation, and direction of the Family Medicine Residency. The Associate Program Director (APD) assists in the overall planning and direction of activities associated with the Family Medicine Residency to meet the ACGME, ABFM, and other regulatory agency requirements for resident physicians and faculty as outlined by the hospital. Under the direction of the Program Director, Family Medicine Residency, and the Graduate Medical Education Committee, the APD assists in maintaining and supporting the mission of patient care and medical education, the medical staff bylaws, and the policies and procedures of the medical center (in accordance with the Board of Trustees, Administration, Medical Staff, Nursing, and Allied Health Professionals of this hospital).

Responsibilities
  1. Serve as an advisor and mentor for the residents.
  2. Teach, evaluate, and provide formative and summative feedback to residents.
  3. Supervise residents in the inpatient and outpatient settings.
  4. Practice full spectrum Family Medicine including pediatrics, women's health, prenatal care, and inpatient/hospital medicine.
  5. Provide compassionate and evidence-based high-quality patient care.
  6. Precept residents in the continuity clinic.
  7. Maintain clinical skills by providing direct patient care to an assigned panel of patients.
  8. Understand and fully implement the ACGME Common Program Requirements along with the FM Specific Program requirements.
  9. Assist in assuring the arrangement of affiliations and/or outside rotations necessary to meet the program objectives.
  10. Assume leadership for the Clinical Competency Committee (CCC), Mid-Cycle Reviews, and participate in the coordination of inspections as required by the ACGME.
