Job summary

Bodmin College is seeking a caring and well‑organised Family Liaison Officer to join our pastoral team. You will be a trusted link between students, families and college staff, providing early support and encouraging engagement and attendance.

As part of the safeguarding and inclusion agenda, you will collaborate with parents/carers and external agencies to help remove barriers to learning and wellbeing, ensuring every student can thrive with warmth, professionalism and resilience.

Qualifications

• Experience working with families or young people in education or community settings.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to engage a range of audiences.
• Empathy, resilience and a proactive, solution‑focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Build positive relationships with students and families to support attendance, engagement and wellbeing.
• Provide early intervention and act as a link between home and college, coordinating with staff and external agencies.
• Support safeguarding processes and contribute to a supportive college environment.

Bodmin College is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, compassionate and highly organised Family Liaison Officer to join our dedicated pastoral team.

The successful candidate will play a key role in building positive and trusting relationships with students and their families, providing early support and helping to remove barriers to learning, attendance and engagement. Working closely with students, parents/carers, college staff and external agencies, you will provide a supportive link between home and college and help families access the appropriate support when it is needed.

The role will involve supporting families experiencing a range of challenges, promoting positive attendance and engagement, contributing to early intervention and safeguarding processes, and helping to ensure that every student has the opportunity to thrive.

We are looking for someone who is approachable, resilient, empathetic and confident in communicating with a wide range of people. You will need excellent organisational skills, the ability to build effective professional relationships and a commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people.
