What will be expected from me?

You will be supporting the planning, organisation, and delivery of high-quality, evidence-based early intervention and prevention services, in partnership with colleagues from voluntary and statutory services, to improve outcomes for children and families and reduce the need for more targeted or specialist interventions.

What might I be doing?
  • You will develop new and existing partnerships with organisations that deliver early intervention and prevention services for children, young people, and families through Wakefield Families Together.
  • You will lead a team of staff supporting the delivery of the partnership Family Hub services to families of children aged 0-19 (25 for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities) within, but not limited to, a specific geographical location.
  • You will promote and support participation of young people in all aspects of service design, delivery, and review.
Why Wakefield Council?
  • We offer a flexible full-time working pattern of 18.5 hours per week, support and access to high-quality training programmes to progress your career. We are committed to supporting staff wellbeing, recognising that resilient teams need good work-life balance and supportive leadership.
  • Access to various employee support products, discounted and subsidised public transport (Arriva Bus Annual Travel Ticket, Northern Trains Limited (NTL), MetroCard), and the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS).
  • Great benefits including discounted membership to leisure facilities with a free 12-week exercise program, discounts for retail, entertainment, health, and leisure providers, cycle-to-work scheme, and more.
Requirements:
  • Educated to degree level in a related field or holding a professional qualification recognized within youth work, youth justice, or targeted youth support, or extensive relevant experience.
  • A substantial and current understanding of the risks and needs that young people experience.
  • Extensive experience of working directly with children, young people, and families in relevant settings.
  • Experience of leading a team in designing and delivering support services for children, young people, and families.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
