The role is primarily based in York during school term time and shifts to their countryside residence in Huggate, during the school holidays.

This is an excellent opportunity for a capable and experienced housekeeper who enjoys working independently, managing a busy household, and ensuring a well-organised and welcoming home environment.

Key Responsibilities:

This is a varied and hands-on role supporting the familys needs across both properties, with a strong emphasis on household organisation and meal preparation for the children. While the home is child-friendly, there are no direct childcare duties required.

Typical responsibilities will include:

  • Household management and organisation across both family homes
  • Managing supplies and stock: ordering groceries, cleaning products, and general household items
  • Overseeing online food orders and maintaining well-stocked cupboards
  • Laundry and ironing, ensuring family clothing is cleaned, folded, and stored properly
  • General tidying and cleaning to maintain high standards throughout the home
  • Batch cooking healthy and nutritious meals for the children only
  • Supporting smooth transitions between properties during school holidays and term time
  • Ensuring both homes are prepared and maintained for daily family life

We are seeking a professional and experienced individual who meets the following criteria:

  • Minimum of 5 years' professional housekeeping experience within a private household
  • Excellent, checkable references from previous private household roles
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently
  • A proactive and reliable attitude with a keen eye for detail
  • Respectful of family privacy and confident working discreetly
  • Experience preparing family-style meals, with a focus on batch cooking for children
  • A full UK driving licence and own car essential due to location
  • Enhanced DBS certificate required (can be processed through Happy Nest if needed)

Location and Working Hours:

  • Based primarily in York during school term time
  • Based in Huggate during school holidays (a rural, countryside location)
  • 30 hours per week across 5 days Monday to Friday

What the Role Offers:

  • £16 per hour
  • A long-term and secure role with a welcoming and appreciative family
  • The opportunity to work across two beautiful family homes in different settings
  • A varied role with autonomy and flexibility within the set working structure
