Job summary

Wokingham Borough Council is hiring a Social Worker for the Family Help Service. Based in Shute End, you will deliver relationship-based social work to safeguard children and support families to create lasting change. This newly remodelled service emphasises collaboration with families and multi-agency partners.

You’ll join a supportive pod structure with reflective supervision, contribute to plans for change, and work in a hybrid model from Shute End and home. DBS enhanced required.

Qualifications

• A recognised Social Work qualification (BA/MA/MSc).
• Experience working with children and families as a Social Worker.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
• Ability to work collaboratively and build meaningful relationships.
• A commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity & inclusion.
• A passion for relationship-based and systemic practice.
• A drive to learn, reflect, and continuously improve.

Responsibilities

• Deliver child-centred, relational social work practice.
• Undertake direct work with children and families to promote safety and wellbeing.
• Work alongside partners to co-produce purposeful plans for change.
• Produce clear, high-quality assessments, reports, and court documentation.
• Take part in safeguarding meetings, group supervision, and reflective practice.
• Stay up to date with legislation, policy, and best practice.
