A leading organization in Salford seeks a Family Help Practitioner to enhance the attendance of secondary school pupils. This role offers an opportunity to provide holistic support to families, particularly those with complex needs, using an asset-based relational practice approach. Family Help Practitioner School Attendance
Grade: 3A, £31,586 - £34,314 (full-time equivalent only, actual salary would be based on the working hours and arrangement agreed with the school)
Working hours: Up to 36 hours per week. Hours agreed with the school where the Family Practitioner is based. We are happy with term-time only working. Due to the nature of the roles, annual leave should be taken during school holidays wherever possible.
Contract type: Fixed term until 31st July 2026

An exciting opportunity for a dedicated, experienced individual to join a team of Family Help Practitioners to improve attendance of secondary-aged pupils across the city.
Many pupils in Years 7-11 miss significant days of school. This team provides targeted, holistic support to pupils and their families across 7 Salford high schools to improve attendance and support children and young people to reach their potential.
Our Family Help Practitioners work with children and families in secondary schools, providing targeted support and helping families achieve positive outcomes. The Family Help Practitioner role is based in school.
The role is vital in supporting families, especially those with complex needs. You will support families using an asset-based relational practice approach, enabling and empowering families to make sustained changes, thus improving outcomes for children and families in Salford.
NB: If applying for a secondment, please seek your line manager’s approval prior to submitting an application.
This position is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The cost is currently £49.50, deducted from your first four months’ salary at £12.38/month. If you do not start employment but the DBS has been processed, you will be invoiced for the £49.50 fee.
