Job summary

Walsall Council is recruiting Family Help Key Workers to support children, young people and families across Walsall. You will provide intensive, practical and relationship-based support to families with 0–19 age, or up to 25 for SEND, helping them access the right services at the right time.

You will work with families during key stages of development, including pre-birth, early childhood and adolescence, alongside practitioners to promote engagement and positive outcomes while upholding

Qualifications

• Experience of working directly with children, young people and families, including those with SEND or invisible needs.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion in practice.

Responsibilities

• Build positive, respectful and trusting relationships with children, young people, parents and carers.
• Provide practical and emotional support that is strengths-based and responsive to family needs.
• Work directly with families through one-to-one support, outreach, group work, workshops or parenting interventions.
• Support families to engage with plans, appointments and services, reducing barriers and improving outcomes.
• Collaborate with Family Help, health, education, social care, voluntary and community sector partners and other local services.
• Promote safeguarding and culturally responsive practice in all aspects of the role.
