Job summary

Northumberland County Council is seeking a proactive Family Group Conferencing Coordinator to help develop a new FGC service in Northumberland. The role focuses on delivering coordinated conferences that bring families, friends and services together to agree safe plans for children and young people.

You will facilitate conferences, support family-led decision making, and work with safeguarding procedures while engaging diverse communities.

Qualifications

• Experience or qualifications in working with children and families (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
• Ability to respond to the needs of individual families from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to exercise a high degree of independence, initiative and expertise.
• An understanding of Child Protection and safeguarding procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality Family Group Conferences bringing together families, extended family members, friends, communities and services to agree safe plans for children, young people and their families.
• Lead and coordinate Family Group Conferences to encourage family decision making and responsibility for their children and young people by negotiating and discussing support within their family network.
• Family Group Conferences are strengths- and solution-focused and require a strong belief in family-led safeguarding.
