Job summary

Babyzone is seeking a Family Engagement Lead to support early years delivery days at Legacy Youth Zone, Croydon. The role involves on-site setup, front-of-house duties, safeguarding compliance and coordinating volunteers to ensure a welcoming environment for families.

The position is part-time and term-time only, with Friday sessions from 8:15am to 3:00pm. Salary is £14.80 per hour, reflecting the Real Living Wage, and you will join a supportive, inclusive community network across Babyzone’s

  • Oversee safeguarding training and adhere to Babyzone policies.
  • Supervise volunteers and respond to requests from Head of Babyzone.

We serve families who struggle to access support elsewhere - due to financial, geographic, or cultural barriers - by offering free, evidence-based classes and resources in premium, fully accessible community hubs.

Reporting to the Head of Babyzone, the Family Engagement Lead is responsible forthe smooth running of Babyzonedelivery days. Their responsibilities will includeset-upand operations,front-of-houseduties,close-downduties, andadditionalduties asrequired. Family Engagement Leads will needqualitiessuch asorganisational skills, interpersonal communication, problem-solving and flexibility.

Key responsibilities:
Set-up and operations

Ensure optimal preparation of areas in Legacy Youth Zone intended for sessions, including moving furniture, adjusting layout, and other necessary changes;

  • Support class leaders with the set up and pack down of their equipment;
  • Support the setup of exploratory play zones, projector feeds, and other elements to create a welcoming and functionalenvironment;
  • Ensure easy access to essential amenities like pram parking andbaby-changingtoilets.
Front of house
  • Provide a warm and supportive welcome for all families attendingBabyzone;
  • Capture family numbers and basic postcode data as familiesarrive;
  • Act as a floating resource to ensure positive experiences for allattendees;
  • Problem-solve any issues raised by families or class leaders during theday;
  • Welcome external stakeholders for tours of Babyzone along with the Head of Babyzone.
  • Assistclass leads in packing up all equipment used for exploratory play andclasses;
Return Youth Zone areasto original setup;
  • Ensure all rooms are cleared of anyitemsfromBabyzoneactivities;
  • Report attendee numbers and any observations/issues to the Head of Babyzone.
  • Supervise and guideadditionalvolunteers, apprentices, or support staff asnecessary;
  • Respond toand actionreasonablerequestsfromthe Head ofBabyzone;
  • Collect quotes and case studies from parents based on a cadence set by Head of Babyzone.
Safeguarding and compliance
  • Complete all necessary safeguarding training ina timelyfashion as directed by theSafeguarding Lead andHead of Babyzone(this is to be completed before starting your first day);
  • Adhereto safeguarding policies,andmaintainaculture of safetyfor children, families, andstaff;

Report any safeguarding concerns to the Head of Babyzone or Safeguarding Lead as soon as possible;

  • Adhere to all Babyzone policies and procedures.
