CRN Clinical Research Fellow attached to the Breast Unit. Optional on-call duties to support general surgery. Responsible for supporting and developing clinical research in the breast unit, working with cancer research nurses and the research lead. This position is suitable for candidates interested in a career in breast disease management, whether surgical, oncology, pathology, or radiology.

Main Duties of the Job
  1. Optional: On-call cover for general surgery, pro-rata at SHO level. Surgical operative experience is not required. Provide ward cover for general surgery as needed.
  2. Allocate 50% of daytime activity to support breast clinical research. The primary aim is to increase recruitment to NIHR portfolio studies. Responsibilities include consenting patients, collating clinical data, and ensuring accurate follow-up data. Support may also be provided for generic vaccine trials.
  3. Attend CRN research fellow development days. The post holder will gain experience to become confident as a Principal Investigator (PI).
  4. Develop clinical skills in breast disease management, with educational support tailored to career goals.
  5. Provide clinical care to breast patients as required.
