Job Description

Masis Professional Group has partnered with a local community college and is seeking student-centered faculty and staff who are committed to the community college mission and actively engaged in promoting it.

This position facilitates learning for students enrolled in the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC) Certificate program. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background as an HVAC technician and a commitment to student success.

This program is currently housed at Worcester Technical High School, and classes are offered during the evening.

Supervision Received

The full-time faculty member reports directly to the Dean of the School of Business, Computing, and Applied Technologies.

Supervision Exercised

The full-time faculty member exercises supervision over any personnel assigned to them.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Teach HVAC courses at various levels using lectures, discussions, practical demonstrations, and instructional materials to foster students' academic progress.
  2. Develop and update curriculum to meet current industry standards. Actively participate in ongoing curriculum & program review.
  3. Develop and update laboratory equipment and materials, integrating hands-on learning across the curriculum.
  4. Remain current with industry trends and developments to ensure course content remains relevant.
  5. Develop and apply instructional methods that engage students of varying learning styles and abilities.
  6. Develop and apply assessment strategies that maximize the learning process and measure student learning outcomes.
  7. Advise and mentor students to support their academic and career goals.
  8. Build a program advisory board to drive planning, development, implementation, operation, promotion, evaluation, and maintenance of the program.
  9. Work proactively with the Grants Development team on funding proposals to support the program.
  10. Collaborate with Administrative Services to address laboratory and facility requirements and concerns.
  11. Perform administrative tasks associated with department activities.
  12. Participate in college service activities in accordance with the provisions of the MCCC Agreement.
  13. Support the teaching and learning process; practice honesty and integrity both in and out of the classroom; strive to create and support a student-centered environment while fostering academic innovation and excellence.
  14. Work collaboratively with other college departments to promote a spirit of college-wide collaboration, collegiality, civility, and teamwork.
  15. Embrace the ideals of inclusiveness and support the equal rights of all individuals by promoting understanding and appreciation of diverse backgrounds, abilities, convictions, socio-economic statuses, and heritages.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Postsecondary certificate and/or Associate's degree in HVAC, Energy Systems Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as an HVAC technician, with expertise in controls, heat, refrigeration, power plant operations, building management, heat pumps, and HVAC systems design.
  • OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience addressing the minimum qualifications above.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 3-5 years of current industry experience in HVAC.
  • 3-5 years of teaching or technical training experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students.
