We are recruiting for a Production Planner for a global engineering group based in Poole, Dorset.

The company works with leading international companies in over 50 countries to deliver innovative engineering solutions addressing global trends such as clean energy, energy efficiency, healthcare, and increasing automation.

The company's Engineering Division specializes in designing and manufacturing engineer-to-order, highly specialized flow control valves.

Hours of Work: 37 hours per week. 8.00am to 4.30pm Mon to Thurs and 8.00am to 1.00pm Friday

Location: Poole, Dorset, Site based.

Job Summary

The Production Planner will be an integral part of the production team. With a strong background in scheduling, the candidate will take a leading role in scheduling the shop floor, ensuring the correct materials are in the right place at the right time. This role is key to fulfilling customer orders on time and in full.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a team responsible for production planning, master production scheduling, and forecasting activities.
  • Control and maintain the fixed period within the Master Schedule in line with materials availability and capacity.
  • Process tasks using planning tools such as MRP, ERP, Preactor, or other installed systems to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Create Production Works Orders and upcoming material requisitions.
  • Monitor progress of items associated with designated order lines to ensure materials meet customer delivery requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and realistic Material Availability Dates on all assigned orders for proper planning and execution.
  • Update data boards such as Obeya and the latest view (LV) of sales monitoring works orders.
  • Assess and execute reschedule requests related to components, assemblies, or entire orders.
  • Identify, record, and monitor issues impacting timely progress of order line items and develop alternatives to prevent delays.
  • Create accurate, up-to-date lead times for each manufacturing process and communicate this to the SOP and sales teams.
  • Collaborate closely with Purchasing, Manufacturing, QA, Sales, and Contracts departments.
  • Ensure production schedule data are accurate, maintained, and easily modifiable.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in production planning and master scheduling within an engineering manufacturing environment.
  • Numerate and IT literate, with good knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft packages for performance analysis and reporting.
  • Proven track record within production and planning teams, with strong experience in MRP/ERP systems.
  • Methodical, organized, with high attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and target-focused.
