Job summary

A well-established manufacturing company in Rochester is seeking full-time Factory Operatives. This hands-on, physical role involves working with cast metal parts in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should be physically fit and comfortable using various tools and machinery. The role offers £29,565.12 with a 4-day working week from Monday to Thursday, 06:00 – 18:00. We’re working with a well-established manufacturing company looking for Factory Operatives to join their team on a full-time basis. This is a hands-on, physical role in a fast-paced production environment. You'll be working with cast metal parts, using various tools and machinery to prepare products for the next stage of production.

Duties will include:

  • Fettling and grinding of metal castings using power tools
  • Manual handling – moving boxes and materials
  • Shot blasting (machine operation)
  • Etching parts using specialist hand tools
  • Operating a band saw when required
  • Cleaning and maintaining equipment and workspaces
  • Recording production data on a touchscreen system
  • Completing paperwork to track tasks completed

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have access to their own transport due to the location and start time
  • Be physically fit – heavy lifting and manual handling are part of the role
  • Be comfortable working in a warm and sometimes dusty environment
  • Have previous experience in a factory, engineering, or manufacturing setting
  • Be confident using hand tools and machinery (training can be provided)
  • Be safety-conscious and understand the importance of PPE and workplace cleanliness
