Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast-growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that works on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace, and Industrial Heavy Machinery.
Role Summary
This role will support the customer’s global manufacturing strategy and deliver world-class facility solutions through product implementation programs, technology innovation, and legacy facility improvement projects.
The T&PPG/BIW/Paint Facilities Conveyor Team is responsible for introducing new facilities, materials, product lines, and new/current vehicle refresh programs into the customer’s Solihull site.
Area of Responsibility
- Assess feasibility of new facilities and processes, develop and manage projects for cost, quality, and timing.
- Support the area by providing the required capability and capacity at the customer's facilities and supporting equipment, aligned with program milestones, launch plans, and production requirements.
- Complete feasibility and cost evaluations for proposed new or modified facilities and processes, defining robust delivery plans with minimal disruption to operations.
- Develop engineering solutions suited to the capabilities of the appropriate facility and its process characteristics.
- Develop robust/lean layout solutions to support facility project delivery or operational efficiency improvements.
- Manage Contractors in accordance with the customer's Control of Contractors procedures.
- Manage, maintain, and develop all Health, Safety, and Operational Risk Management processes at the site.
- Contribute to Environmental Innovation and Reporting compliance with customer standards.
- Coordinate support and input from all relevant stakeholders to ensure acceptance, buy-off, and successful handover of new or modified facilities.
- Work closely with Manufacturing and other Engineering disciplines to deliver programs and facility projects on time and within budget.
- Provide Manufacturing Engineering support to Plant personnel as part of cross-functional teams for problem solving and continuous improvement activities.
- Manage facility documentation in line with Manufacturing Engineering procedures, supporting audits.
- Lead and participate in multifunctional New Equipment Procurement Teams through all project phases, ensuring procurement procedures are followed.
- Track project KPIs and report weekly to departmental managers.
- Undertake any other work as directed by the line manager related to the role.
Knowledge & Experience

- Knowledge of reliability, maintainability principles, and environmental impacts of engineering solutions.
- Degree qualified or equivalent engineering experience preferred.
- Ability to manage suppliers and project budgets.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing tools and techniques.
- Ability to work independently towards objectives and targets.
- Flexible with working hours, including after hours, weekends, and shutdowns.
- Experience delivering operational and strategic facilities management solutions across various industries and geographies.
- Contract and performance management experience.
- Good working knowledge of CDM regulations.
- Experience in supplier selection and tender management.
- Knowledge of electrical control systems used in automated equipment and conveyors.
