Job summary

Atomic Weapons Establishment in Reading & Basingstoke is seeking a Facility Coordinator to support the safe, compliant and effective performance of our facilities across a highly regulated estate. You will help ensure workplaces are secure, efficient and ready to meet programme needs.

You will assist with audits, inspections and reviews, manage day-to-day facilities operations and maintain a proactive approach to resolving issues, meeting deadlines and delivering high standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience in facilities management, health and safety or related role is an advantage.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Demonstrates integrity and ability to handle confidential matters.

Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day running of facilities.
  • Assist for audits, inspections and reviews.
  • Track actions and move tasks forward.
  • Identify and resolve issues before they become problems.

Facility Coordinator – Reading & Basingstoke

Location: RG7 4PR between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking.

Starting salary £30,860 (negotiable based on experience).

Working pattern: AWE operates a 9‑day working fortnight. Flexible working requests are considered.

About the role

As a Facility Coordinator you will support the safe, compliant and effective performance of our facilities across a highly regulated estate, ensuring our workplaces are secure, efficient and ready to meet the needs of our programme.

Responsibilities
  • Support the day‑to‑day running of facilities.
  • Help prepare for audits, inspections and reviews.
  • Track actions and keep tasks moving forward.
  • Identify and resolve issues before they become problems.

Requirements
  • IOSH or NEBOSH certification is an advantage, but not essential.
  • Prior experience in facilities management, health and safety or a related role is an advantage.
  • High level of personal integrity and ability to handle confidential matters.
  • Decisive under pressure, confident to challenge when required.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience within customer service and administration.
  • Ability to work calmly in a priority‑changing environment and manage own workload.
  • Initiative, enthusiasm and flexibility; meet tight deadlines.

Other information

You must be a British citizen with at least 5 years of UK residence to obtain SC clearance, and 10 years for DV clearance. Clearance will be funded by AWE.
