The City of Edinburgh Council is seeking a part-time Facilities Technician for the Ratho Early Years site. Salary £27,257-£29,850 (pro rata for part time). Hours: 12 per week across Monday to Friday with early start times.

You will perform day-to-day janitorial and DIY operations across buildings, covering small repairs, general maintenance, and support for moves and basic security functions. The role focuses on delivering an efficient facilities service in line with the Service Level Agreement

Job description

Facilities Technician
Ratho Early Years

Salary £27,257-£29,850 (pro rata for part time)
Hours: 12 per week, 52 weeks

Working patten: Monday to Thursday 07:00am-09:30am and Friday 07:00am-09:00am

To carry out in a facilities management area day to day janitorial and DIY operations across one or more buildings ranging from small repairs and general maintenance to reactive cleaning, supporting moves and conducting basic security functions.

To provide overall an efficient and effective facilities technician service in accordance with the Service Level Agreement, CEC policy and any prevailing general standards.

• Equipment and furniture and fitting maintenance
• Building maintenance and services
• Security of premises and grounds
• Grounds maintenance
• Cleaning /Tidying

Job activities

• Equipment and furniture and fitting maintenance
• Undertake minor maintenance and repairs to equipment in accordance with good practice and procedures
• Undertaking general porterage duties, including moving furniture for the setting up of rooms and halls for events, performances, exams, meetings

The list of above duties is not exhaustive and the post-holder will undertake any other duties arising and reasonably pertaining to the post.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A n unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
