Qualifications

Purpose of the role:

To ensure allocated, planned maintenance and small repairs are carried out, undertake service requests raised by the facilities management system. Provide technical support to the Facilities function. The role is varied and you will be part of the interface for the facilities function with internal staff for maintenance as well as taking on any other ad-hoc tasks where necessary.

Key responsibilities and duties:

  • Technical support and hands on maintenance work as required
  • To ensure the site is maintained to the agreed standard with the undertaking of planned and reactive service and maintenance, breakdown and fault finding and repair tasks on a range of electrical, mechanical and other services throughout the site.
  • Ensure maintenance and repair of real estate is carried out in a timely, safe and efficient manner.
  • To undertake general maintenance tasks and survey inspections in areas including confined spaces and at height
  • Ensure all works are carried out in line with industry best practice and comply with the appropriate current regulations;
  • Identify and report any potential efficiency improvements and/or cost reductions in current systems;
  • Co-ordination of activities with other internal and contractor staff where appropriate;
  • Adherence to our Quality Management Systems (QMS), Safety Management Systems (SMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and all associated Business Manuals.

Professional Qualifications/Education and Training:

  • Good organisational skills; (e)
  • Basic understanding of plant and property maintenance; (e)
  • Good understanding of basic engineering principles; (e)
  • Good understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental regulations and legislation; (e)
  • Competency with standard MS Office applications; (e)
  • Electrician qualified to C&G 2367 or 2357 (Electrical Installation) and NVQ level 3 in Electrical Installations or equivalent. Certificate in BS7671 - The Requirements for Electrical Installations, 18th Edition; (d)
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems and machinery; (e)
  • Experience working on commercial or industrial electrical systems (d)
  • Working knowledge of plumbing systems; (d)
  • Working knowledge of carpentry; (d)
  • Good understanding of Safety, Health, Environment and Fire Regulations; (e)
  • Excellent organisational skills / Time management /Ability to prioritise and organise own workload / able to work to deadlines autonomously
  • Driving license; (e)
  • Working knowledge of Building Regulations; (d)
  • IOSH Managing Safely Course. (d)
  • Interested in further training and development. (e)

Experience:

  • Two years' experience working in a role as an electrician or in a mechanical/technical role (e)
  • Technical/Engineering background (e)
  • Electronic facilities management software . CAFM, Facilities Desk or similar (d)
