Job summary

Unilin is seeking a Facilities Technician in Chesterfield to support statutory, compliance and general maintenance checks across the site. The role focuses on upkeep, safety, and high standards of the factory and surroundings, suitable for someone with a recent relevant qualification seeking career development.

The position is permanent, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm, with duties spanning daily solar readings, weekly and monthly safety checks, and basic repairs, including work at heights.

Qualifications

• Relevant maintenance qualification or equivalent.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Solar Energy Reading daily.
• Perform Weekly Tests & Checks (Fire Alarm, Spark Detection, Sprinkler Pumps, Energy readings, Olfactory Checks, Water Flushing and Temperature Checks) and record in SAP.
• Conduct Monthly Tests & Checks (Ladder, Fire Extinguishers, Fire Doors) and record in SAP.
• Carry out cleaning duties to maintain a safe facility.
• Manage stores upkeep and stock checks.
• Retrieve and track parts; Saw Blade tracking.
• Perform minor repairs across plant (plumbing, electrical, woodwork).
• Work at heights when required (aircon, roof guttering).
• Support other departments to achieve company objectives.
• Flexibility in working hours as needed.
• Undertake reasonable requests from management.
• Support ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 certifications.

We are currently recruiting for a Facilities Technician to support the delivery of statutory, compliance and general maintenance checks across the site. The successful candidate will help ensure the ongoing upkeep, safety and high standards of the factory and surrounding areas. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has recently gained a relevant qualification and is looking to develop their career in a maintenance role. If you have a good understanding of general maintenance and a proactive approach, we would love to hear from you.

This is a permanent position, working Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm.

Key Tasks and Duties

• Responsible for conducting Solar Energy Reading on a daily basis
• Responsible for conducting the following Weekly Tests & Checks: Fire Alarm Tests, Spark Detection, Sprinkler Pumps, Energy readings Olfactory Checks, Water Flushing Checks, Water Temperature Checks, Hour Run Readings and ensure that all are recorded in a timely an accurate manner on SAP
• Responsible for conducting the following Monthly Tests and Checks: Ladder Checks, Fire Extinguisher Checks, Fire Door Checks and ensuring that all are recorded in a timely accurate manner on SAP
• Perform any immediate cleaning duties necessary to maintain a clean safe facility
• Responsible for stores upkeep and stock takes
• Responsible for parts retrieval and tracking
• Responsible for Saw Blade tracking
• Ensure the general upkeep of the plant by undertaking minor repairs, general laboring tasks, general housekeeping and painting tasks as and when required (basic plumbing, electric, woodwork repairs)
• Able to work at heights (reaching aircon units, roof guttering, etc.)
• Assist other departments as requested to ensure company objectives are obtained
• Tasks may require flexible working hours
• Undertake any reasonable request as directed by management
• Support the business in line with its ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 certification.
